GENERAL PRACTICE APPOINTMENTS

Standard appointment, 15 minutes

  • 1-2 simple issues only

Long appointment, 30 minutes

Examples:

  • New patient
  • Multiple or complex health issues
  • Antenatal (pregnancy) consults
  • Mental Health consults
  • Driving medical assessment
  • Women’s health, including Implanon insertion and removal
  • Skin check or lesion excision
  • Childhood immunisations

Extra long appointment >30 minutes, may require nurse involvement as well

Examples:

  • 6 week postnatal mother and baby check and immunisations
  • Health assessment, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander/Indigenous
  • Health assessment >75 years
  • GP Management Plan and/or Team Care Arrangement ‘Care Plan’
  • Complex physical and mental health appointments

Telehealth appointment

Telehealth appointments are available. Video consults are preferred over telephone appointments. Medicare rebates apply if you are a returning patient with a face to face review in the past 12 months, please enquire when booking.

Home visit

Home visits are not offered routinely, but may be available in specific circumstances e.g. to provide care to the terminally ill.

If you are not sure if you should book a standard appointment or a long appointment, please book a long appointment. Fees apply based on the time taken not the time booked.

NEUROPROTECTIVE DEVELOPMENTAL CARE ‘Possums’

Breastfeeding, infant sleep, unsettled infant cry/fuss problems, maternal mental health.

  • Initial appointment 1 hour
  • Follow up appointment 30mins or 1 hour
  • Telehealth appointments 1 hour

Dr Santos understands that Possums consults are often time sensitive and endeavours to see all initial consults within 2 weeks. Please call to make an appointment 02) 6657 1273.

FEES

GP consults: $65-110, before rebate.

Possums consult: Initial consult $200, follow up consults $120 before rebate.

Rebates

Medicare rebates are available for all services, the amount rebated will depend on medicare item number requirements.

  • Patient rebate varies depending on consultation type. As an example, rebate for a standard consultation is currently $42.85 or a long consult $82.90 (January 2025).
  • Standard GP consult rebates are divided by time and complexity – simple <6 minutes, 6-20 minutes, 20-40 minutes, >40 minutes
  • Different rebates are available for some specific consultations e.g antenatal care, mental health care plan
  • Please request an estimate of out-of-pocket cost prior to booking an appointment.

Fees will apply based on the time taken not the time booked.
